About Gospel Centered Therapy
Gospel Centered Therapy is Christian counseling with the gospel narrative at the center of therapeutic theory and practice—not a spiritual add-on pasted onto secular methods.
What it is
Gospel Centered Therapy (GCT) puts the gospel at the center of healing. Grace, union with Christ, and the finished work of the cross sit at the center. Psychological methods are used under that frame, not instead of it.
At the center is a person, not a method: Jesus Christ, who heals by drawing us into relationship with himself.
A central theme is taking gospel truth from head knowledge into heart knowledge—so confession becomes trust, and teaching becomes lived grace.
Where it comes from
Gospel Centered Therapy grows out of the Stenzel Clinical counseling practice and Grant Stenzel’s teaching for pastors, therapists, and lay leaders.
Philippians 4 sits near the heart of the framework: rejoicing, honest petition, peace that guards, renewed thinking, contentment in every circumstance, and strength that is not performance—but life in Christ.
Who teaches it
Taught by Grant Stenzel, founder of Gospel Centered Therapy and clinical director at Stenzel Clinical Services.
How counseling works
Gospel Centered Therapy is a standalone framework and brand. Counseling appointments and clinical services are provided through Stenzel Clinical Services—in Wheaton, Naperville, Geneva, and online for Illinois clients.
